Alissa

Alissa Arnason, a Nelson-based prairie folk and country musician, came to us looking for new imagery to support her social media presence and upcoming album, Waltzes. Her sound is haunting and beautiful, rooted in Canadiana storytelling with a quiet intensity. The visuals needed to hold that same weight, while still leaving room for her deeply personal characteristics to come through.

We built a creative direction that blended prairie romance with a cheeky cowboy edge. Drawing from Canadiana, country grit and classic western references, we moved between indoor and outdoor settings to create contrast and texture. There is something brooding in the mood, but never too stiff. It feels self-aware, playful and distinctly hers.

To push the vintage tone further, we shot with direct flash and experimented with plastic gels to introduce subtle distortion and colour shifts. The result feels nostalgic without being costume-like. Imperfect in the right places. Honest, cinematic and emotionally grounded.

The final gallery gives Alissa a cohesive visual world for Waltzes, one that feels as layered and intimate as the music itself.
